LX Theater: Legends
Fall Title: The Actor's Nightmare
LX Theater: Legends provides the training a serious theater student needs to compete for roles in middle school, high school and beyond.
Each season focuses on a specific genre in order to expand on the performer's knowledge and versatility. We aim to take the performer outside of his or her comfort zone and have them try new characters and approaches.
This season - Theater of the Absurd. The Actor's Nightmare was written to echo a genuine fear of actors - that one day they will walk out on stage and not remember a single line of the show. This idea is taken a step forward in the show by having a poor insurance worker step out on stage without any idea how he or she got there nor how to get through the show without making an absolute fool of him or herself. The show seems to be improvised, but every moment is scripted and rehearsed to the finest detail, encouraging the performers to be the primary creative force in the show's presentation.
Program Goals:
- Provides professional-style instruction to young adults
- Sets foundation for a successful career in performance
- Helps players get noticed
- Teaches tricks of the trade
