LINX Theater Frequently Asked Questions
FACTS and QUESTIONS
WHY ARE OLDER KIDS ASKED TO LEARN THEIR LINES SO QUICKLY?
We provide the invite-only kids a month to learn their lines so they can really start learning to act. The end goal is no longer to learn lines and present them onstage. The kids have delved into character development, physical routines, and many other facets that require the script to be out of one's hands. The longer they are without a script, the more confident they are onstage and it does not add pressure close to show-time - which can coincide with end projects at school - for they already have that work under their belt.
WHY ARE OLDER THEATER CLASSES TWO HOURS?
More time spent rehearsing with the director means a better retention of what is learned, less time working at home, and more fun with fellow performers.
I DON'T RECOGNIZE THE SHOW'S TITLE:
An unrecognized title can either be an original work, written specifically for children with balanced characters, or an adaptation, changed for the same reasons (that is, to provide each child with an equal role and a character that either affects the story's plot in a significant way or provides hilarious comic relief.
IS THERE A SET TIME FOR PERFORMANCES?
Shows - with few exceptions - occur in January and then again in June. The June performances never take place after the end of school. Specific dates within those months may vary due to theater availability.
